Human Life Standard.
The "HLS”
A principle that every decision made by the government must improve the quality of life, of every Washington, D.C. citizen.
It creates a city where “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” are not privileges, they are guarantees.
Under the HLS, Washington, D.C. stops managing crises and begins building systems that prevent them, ensuring every household has the chance to not just survive, but to thrive.
It realigns our government around the wellbeing of it’s residents by driving policy decisions that are transparent, measurable, and accountable.
Housing & Commerce.
The Human Life Standard begins where people live and where they earn their livelihood.
Washingtonians deserve affordable housing, safe housing, and stable housing. They deserve commercial corridors where local businesses thrive, where storefronts are filled, and where opportunity is rooted in community, not pushed out by speculation.
Under my administration, we will build housing that is truly affordable, reform permitting and construction timelines, and protect legacy residents and small businesses from displacement.
A city where people live and work must be a city where people can stay.
